My Two Cents as a First Time Precinct Secretary in the Iowa 2020 Caucus

I am seeing a ton of WHY DON'T WE KNOW YET? and THERE MUST BE SOMETHING WRONG WITH HOW THEY ARE DOING IT IN IOWA.
First, there are 99 counties in Iowa, and every one of those has multiple precincts. Each of those precincts has to do the math for up to 12 groups (the candidates plus undecided). Ours only had 4 that ended up reporting. But still, you have to first align, then second align, then assign delegates, and a bunch of other things too, like having each viable group sort out who their delegates will actually be, as well as alternates.
This.
Takes.
Time.
And really, you want it fast or you want it correct? Because that's what it boils down to.
There are certainly problems with the caucus system in general being exclusionary on many levels (accessibility of parents, people who are sick, etc), but I can tell you in all honesty, the problem is that it takes time and everyone wants to know RIGHT NOW.
So, please, just chill out for a moment or so. There are people working hard across the state to get the information gathered and to make sure it's correct. Please give us time to take care of these things.
